Editorial Guidelines
How we research, write, and review every piece of content at Cat Care Guides — so you can trust what you read.
Veterinarian-Review Standard
Every health-related article on Cat Care Guides is reviewed by a licensed veterinarian before publication. Our reviewers hold active DVM credentials and bring clinical experience in feline medicine, internal medicine, or animal behaviour. Reviewer names and credentials appear at the top of each reviewed article. We do not publish health guidance that has not passed this review step.
Author Qualifications
Our writers are experienced cat owners, pet journalists, or veterinary technicians with a minimum of three years of hands-on feline care experience. Before writing for Cat Care Guides, every author completes an editorial orientation covering our accuracy standards, citation requirements, and tone guidelines. We do not accept anonymous or AI-generated content as a substitute for expert human authorship.
Research and Source Standards
Claims in our articles must be supported by peer-reviewed veterinary literature, guidance from professional bodies such as the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP), or direct input from our veterinary reviewers. We link to primary sources wherever possible and avoid relying on secondary summaries alone. Product recommendations are based on ingredient analysis, independent testing, and real-world owner feedback — never on affiliate commission rates.
Editorial Independence
Our editorial team operates independently of commercial relationships. Cat Care Guides participates in affiliate programmes and may earn a commission when readers purchase products through our links. This never influences which products we feature, how we rank them, or what our reviewers conclude. Sponsored content, when it exists, is clearly labelled and held to the same factual accuracy standards as editorial content.
Update Policy
Cat health knowledge evolves. We audit our top articles every six months and update them when veterinary guidance changes, new research is published, or products are discontinued. Every article displays a "Last Updated" date so you always know how current the information is. If a major guideline changes between scheduled reviews, we update the affected article immediately.
Corrections Policy
Accuracy matters to us. If you believe an article contains a factual error, please contact us with the specific claim and any supporting evidence. We investigate every report and correct verified errors promptly, noting the correction at the bottom of the affected article.
